Cookie and storage policy
Cookies & storage
Last updated 3 September 2026
This site sets no cookies. None. What it does use is your browser's local storage, for five settings that stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. That is why there is no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to store and then send back with every request to that site, which is what makes cookies useful for tracking people across visits and, when third parties are involved, across different sites.
Vice Roulette sets no cookies of any kind, and loads nothing from third parties that could set one. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for preferences, not even a "strictly necessary" one. If your browser shows a cookie for this domain, it did not come from us.
Local storage
Local storage is a different thing with a similar reputation. It also lives in your browser, but it is never attached to network requests: it can only be read by this site's own code, running in your own browser, on the device you are using. It cannot follow you to another site or another device.
Five keys are stored, all prefixed vr.:
| Key | Purpose | Contents |
|---|---|---|
vr.game | Remembers which game you picked | "v" or "vi" |
vr.filters | Remembers how you tuned the dial | Selected categories, difficulty, "playing with mates" on or off |
vr.sound | Remembers the sound toggle | true or false |
vr.stats | Prints your own tally under the dial | Three counts: spins, locked in, chickened out |
vr.daily | Keeps the Daily Vice honest | The date you last completed it, and your current streak |
None of them expires on its own: all five sit there until you clear them, and the site never refreshes or extends them behind your back. None of these is an identifier. There is no visitor ID, no session ID and no random number assigned to you, so even we cannot tell one browser from another.
How to remove them
Clearing site data for viceroulette.com in your browser deletes all five
immediately. It is under Settings → Privacy → Cookies and site data in most browsers,
and in Safari under Settings → Advanced → Website Data. A private or incognito window
throws them away on its own when you close it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Both signals are respected by default, in the sense that there is nothing here to switch off. No tracking happens with them, without them, or in spite of them.
Advertising cookies
No advertising runs on this site today, so no advertising cookies are set and no ad company is loaded into the page. If that ever changes, this page will be updated on the same day to name the network and list exactly what it sets, and a consent prompt will appear for visitors in places where one is required, before anything loads.
