Five story-mode replays worth doing

The main story holds up to a second (or fifth) look better than most open-world games, especially with a constraint attached.

• A full 100% completion run — every collectible, every stranger mission, every side activity, properly finished rather than skimmed.
• A fresh save with self-imposed rules — pick a small stack of restrictions (no fast travel, no map markers, cash spending capped) and hold yourself to them.
• A one-life run — one death, game over, restart from the beginning. Genuinely different tension from a normal playthrough.
• A pacifist-lite hour — an hour of play with combat avoided wherever the story allows it, not a full pacifist run end to end.
• A no-HUD playthrough — turn off the minimap and prompts and see how much of the game you actually remember versus relied on the interface for.

Five things to do in GTA Online that aren't grinding

GTA Online has plenty to do that isn't cash-per-hour optimisation, and none of it needs a money glitch or a modded lobby to enjoy — those are against Rockstar's terms and not something this site will ever suggest.

• A freeroam event night — jump into whatever random events pop up in a session rather than heading straight to a job.
• A vehicle meet with no racing — get a crew together to show off garages, no lap times involved.
• A heist run for style, not profit — pick the approach that's more fun to execute, not the one with the best payout-per-hour.
• A GTA Online photo tour — the online map has locations the story mode doesn't linger on; go find them with a camera.
• An arena or stunt race night — the game's own built-in racing modes, played for the format rather than the grind.

Five things to do with friends

• A dare relay — spin the generator, whoever's turn it is completes the dare, then passes the spin along.
• A category draft — each player picks a category before spinning, so nobody controls what they get.
• Lock-in / chicken-out forfeit night — use this site's own accept-or-decline mechanic, with a real (harmless) forfeit for chickening out too often.
• A one-life lobby night — everyone plays under the same one-death rule, in the same session, and compares how long each person lasts.
• A photo-mode scavenger hunt — agree on a list of shots (a specific landmark, a specific vehicle, a specific weather condition) and race to collect them all first.

Five things to do solo when nobody's on

• A solo exploration list — pick a part of the map you've never actually stopped in and spend a session there properly.
• A vehicle collection project — set a target garage of specific vehicles and hunt them down one at a time.
• A stunt-jump route — chain a run of stunt jumps into one continuous route without stopping.
• A wildlife photo run — track down and photograph as many different animals as the game actually has.
• A daily-challenge streak — today's GTA challenge changes once a day for everyone, worldwide; see how many days in a row you can keep it going.

Get ready for Leonida

A handful of the activities outlets have reported for GTA 6 already exist in GTA 5 in close enough form to practise now: dirt biking, scuba diving, hunting and base jumping. Rockstar's own GTA VI site, checked on 24 September 2026, names dirt bikes and hunting and shows scuba divers in a screenshot; base jumping is expected, not confirmed, and all four are already playable in GTA 5 today. Run each one a few times before launch and you'll at least know the general shape of the activity — where to find a dirt bike, how diving controls generally feel, what a base-jump run actually asks of you — even though the specific mechanics in GTA 6 will inevitably differ in the details. To be clear: this is practice using GTA 5's own version of each activity, not a claim about how GTA 6's version will actually work — the mechanics, locations and feel may differ once the real thing is out, and treating this as a preview rather than a prediction is the whole point.

A week-by-week plan to launch

A wait this long is easy to lose to just checking for news every few days instead of actually playing anything. One theme per week between now and launch, at a difficulty tier, gives the wait some real structure instead of being one long holding pattern with an occasional dare thrown in.
