Privacy policy
Privacy
Last updated 3 October 2026
This is a short policy because there is little to say. Nobody signs up, and nothing you type here is sent anywhere. Two things are the honest headline of the page: Cloudflare, which serves this site, counts visits in totals it cannot connect to a person, and the site carries Google advertising, which sets its own cookies. Both are named upfront and described in full below. The site also saves a few small settings in your own browser so it can remember which game you picked, your filters, your spin count and the boxes you ticked on the launch-day checklist between visits; those never leave your device.
What this site does not do
- Cloudflare's visit counter identifies nobody. It works out totals — how many visits, which pages, from which countries — and we make no attempt to work out who you are or how often you come back.
- No accounts, no sign-up, no email list, no newsletter.
- No cookies of our own. Not one. The only cookies on this site come from Google, and only through the advertising described in Advertising below.
- Only two things load from outside this domain, and both are named rather than hidden: that advertising, and Cloudflare's cookieless visit counter. Every font, image, style and script the site otherwise needs is served from here.
- We keep no profile of you, and this site builds none: what little Cloudflare and Google each see is described below, in full.
What is saved in your browser
The site uses your browser's local storage to remember a few preferences. This is not a cookie: local storage is never attached to network requests, so the contents are readable only by this site running in your own browser. Nothing here is transmitted anywhere.
| Key | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
vr.game | Whether you last chose GTA 5 or GTA 6 | So the wheel comes back set to your game |
vr.filters | Your chosen categories, difficulty and the "playing with mates" switch | So the dial stays tuned the way you left it |
vr.sound | Whether sound is on or off | So the site does not make noise you already turned off |
vr.stats | Three numbers: spins, locked in, chickened out | To print your own tally under the dial |
vr.daily | The date you last completed the Daily Vice, and your streak | So the daily challenge knows you have already done today's |
vr.checklist. followed by the page address | Which boxes you have ticked on a checklist post, such as what to do first in GTA 6 | So your ticks are still there when you come back to that post |
All of them are plain numbers, ticks and settings. None of them is an identifier, and none of them can be used to recognise you, here or on any other site. They persist until you clear them. The cookie and storage page explains how to remove them, and what happens if your browser blocks storage entirely (short answer: everything still works).
What happens when you spin
The generator runs entirely inside your browser, from a challenge file that loads with the page. No spin is sent anywhere. There is no server making the choice, so there is nothing for one to log.
Shared links and share images
When you share a challenge, the challenge is identified by the part of the link after the
#, for example viceroulette.com/#c=141. Browsers never send that part
of a link to a server. Your friend's browser reads it and shows the same card.
The share image is drawn on the fly in your own browser and handed straight to your device's share sheet or clipboard. It is not uploaded anywhere. Where you send it afterwards, and what that app does with it, is between you and that app.
Advertising
This site is free, and advertising from Google AdSense is what we intend to
pay for it with. Here is exactly where things stand: our application to Google is under review.
While it is, Google's script loads from pagead2.googlesyndication.com on every page
except the individual dare pages, the page-not-found page, this page and the cookies page, so that
Google can review the site, and no advertisement is shown anywhere yet. Loading that script is still a request to Google:
its servers see your IP address, the page you are on, and the usual details any web server
receives. We set Google's consent signals to denied before the script loads, and nothing on the
site changes them, so there is nothing to agree to yet.
If the application is approved, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar storage to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites, to cap how often you see the same one, and to measure whether an ad worked. That is Google's doing and not ours: we send Google nothing about you, and we get nothing back about you either. No report, no list, no profile. What Google does with the data it gathers is set out in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message from Google will appear before advertising cookies are used, and you can refuse. Refusing means you would see non-personalised ads rather than none: the site works exactly the same either way. Anywhere, you can turn personalised advertising off for your own Google account at My Ad Centre, opt out of participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices, and, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu. This page changes the day ads actually go live, and the date at the top changes with it.
The cookie page lists what this actually puts on your device.
Hosting
Other than Google's advertising and Cloudflare's visit counter, nothing on this site is loaded from anyone else: the fonts, the artwork, the styles and the app itself are all served from this domain.
The site is a set of static files served by Cloudflare. Like every web host on earth, it has to process your request in order to send the page back, and it keeps its own short-lived operational and security logs to do that and to fend off attacks. That is the host's own processing, not ours. Cloudflare also counts visits for us with Cloudflare Web Analytics: it adds a small script to each page as it is delivered, sees the page, the referrer, your browser and device type, your country and how quickly the page loaded, sets no cookie, and gives us totals rather than a way to recognise you. Cloudflare's own privacy policy governs what it does with that data.
If you email us
If you write to hello@viceroulette.com, we have your message and the address you sent it from, because that is how email works. The address is used to reply to you and for nothing else: no list, no newsletter, and it is never passed on. We keep it for up to twelve months, for as long as it takes to deal with, then delete it.
Children
This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and nothing here asks for an age or a name. South African law treats anyone under 18 as a child; the US COPPA rule, anyone under 13. If a young person emails us, that message is handled exactly like any other and deleted when it has been dealt with; if you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@viceroulette.com and we will delete it.
Your rights over your data
Wherever you live, you have rights over personal data a site holds about you: to see it, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to it being used. Those rights are honoured here, but there is almost nothing for them to act on.
- Data held about you on our side: none, unless you have emailed us, in which case it is that email thread and nothing more. Ask and it is deleted.
- Data held by Google: ours to point at, not to hand over. Use My Ad Centre and Google's privacy policy, which carry the controls and the request routes we cannot operate on your behalf.
- Data held in your browser: the keys above. They are yours already. Clearing your browser data for this site deletes them instantly, with no need to ask anyone.
To make a request, or to complain about how any of this works, email hello@viceroulette.com. You can also complain to South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). If you are in the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, to your own supervisory authority. Nothing here takes that away.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, on the same day, and the date at the top is updated. There is no version of this that quietly starts collecting something.
Who runs this
This site is operated by Inyonitech Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa and based in Cape Town. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) it is the responsible party for any personal information this site processes, and under the GDPR and the UK GDPR it is the controller. Its Information Officer is registered with South Africa's Information Regulator and can be reached at hello@viceroulette.com.
